Are Recommendations like Advice?

I hope not because I am kind of OK giving out a recommendation once in a  while but not unsolicited advice. I think a recommendation goes  “If you like sushi you should try this new place,” while advice goes “You should eat less salt because you are look like you are retaining water.”Anyway, I have a recommendation today.  If you are looking for or are in need of a really good massage therapist in the Twin Cities, I have the person for you.  His link is on my main page under Common Sense Bodyworks.  He is incredibly well trained. His web page can much better explain all his areas of training and expertise. He has done wonderful things for my neck and shoulders and posture and so on. Check his web page out.

Well, I don’t think that went too bad as a recommendation. I don’t think anyone will be offended.

Speaking of being offended or maybe offensive to some, I was saddened to hear that George Carlin passed away. He was the raunchy comedian for smart people (or at least people who think they are smart). Some article referenced his “Seven Words You can’t say  on TV” skit (which I shall not repeat here).

My first thought was I should make a list of the seven words or phrases you can’t use in corporate America or at a corporate meetings, since I spent so much time there. Not like buzzword bingo because corporations want you to say crap like that or crude things, but more like honest or obvious things that someone should probably say. But I have been apparently gone long enough from corporate America to not recall  many of them.

I can think of one that would make the Top Seven list.

“That’s crap!” was my favorite one from my last year. If Joni is out there she knows what I am talking about. I think I said that about a lot of things. I don’t think this one needs to be explained.

I can’t think of any others off the the top of my head, but if I think of any I’ll add them to my comments. And if you all out there have any suggestions, let me know.
